What does it mean to surrender to Jesus?
Surrender ~ To yield to the power of another, relinquish control.
(But do not be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord… 2Chronicles 30:8)
Control ~ Power to direct or regulate.
(Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. 2Thessalonians 3:5)
Power ~ The ability to act or produce an effect. Physical might; force or energy used to do work.
(Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26)
Lord ~ one having all power and authority.
(After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Mark 16:19)
Authority ~ One appealed to as an expert. Power to influence thought and behavior.
(And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” Matthew 28:18)
Love ~ unselfish and loyal concern for others. To feel a passion, devotion, or tenderness for.
(And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:17b,18,19)
Expert ~ showing special skill or knowledge.
(…both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2b,3)
Trust ~ Assured reliance on the character, strength or truth of someone or something.
(And those who know your name will put their trust in you; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10.)
Perfect ~ Being without fault or defect. Exact, precise, complete.
(As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is proven… Psalm 18:30)
Daily Surrender to Jesus ~ To choose each day to relinquish control and yield to the power of the one perfect, loving, all knowledgable expert who is our Lord, God, and who we trust to influence our thoughts and behaviors, because of His perfect character, perfect strength, perfect truth, and perfect love.
